Description
USS Yosemite (AD-19) was a Dixie-class destroyer tender built by the Tampa Shipbuilding Company in Tampa, Florida. She was launched on 16 May 1943 and commissioned on 26 March 1944.
During World War II she repaired ships at Pearl Harbor, Ulithi and Leyte, then tended occupation forces in Japan. From 1946 she served at Newport, Rhode Island, as flagship for the Atlantic Fleet destroyer command and later the Cruiser-Destroyer Force, Atlantic, before shifting her home port to Mayport, Florida, in 1969. Her final deployment was to the Persian Gulf in 1991-1992, and she was decommissioned on 27 January 1994.
