Description
USS John Finn Patch DDG-113. Ray Mabus, Secretary of the Navy announced the ship's name to be John Finn on February 15th of 2011. The first Medal of Honor recipient of World War II, despite being shot in the foot and shoulder, as well as suffering numerous shrapnel wounds Finn machine gunned Japanese warplanes for over two hours during the December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. After thirty years of service he retired as a lieutenant, and later died at the age 100 in 2010.
