Description

Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division Patch STB Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A 3 x 3.5 inch patch consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: Sable, a griffin's head erased Or garnished of the first above a lightning flash Tenne and a sword point up of the second in saltire; a bordure bendy-sinister of seven Azure and Argent. Attached below the shield a Black scroll inscribed "WE FIGHT AS ONE" in Gold letters. Symbolism: The griffin, a heraldic beast, symbolizes vigilance and strength. Black and white signifies night and day, around the clock combat readiness. The orange lightning flash refers to the Signal Corps connection and the tactical information networks and systems support of the unit. The sword is adapted from the Military Intelligence branch insignia and refers to intelligence collection, analysis and electronic warfare support. They are crossed to highlight cooperation and teamwork in support of the Brigade Unit of Action mission. The blue and white border represents the 3rd Infantry Division and the unit's association with them. Background: The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 13 December 2004.
