Special Troops Battalion, 4 Brigade, 10 Mountain Division Patch Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: "Azure, an isosceles triangle Gules capped Argent, surmounted by a lightning flash Tenne and a pickaxe saltirewise Sable, handle detailed Or, all fimbriated of the like, overall a dagger palewise blade and hand guard of the third, gripped Vert, detailed of the sixth; a canton of the seventh, edged and charged with a fleur-de-lis all within a bordure Gold." Attached below the device an Ultramarine Blue motto scroll inscribed in Gold letters, "STEADFAST ABOVE ALL." Symbolism: The triangle, suggesting a mountain, represents Infantry and the Engineers' branch. The lightning flash refers to Signal, the dagger recalls association with Military Intelligence. The Engineers' branch is again represented by the pickaxe. Blue refers to the 10th Mountain Division, orange represents Signal. The canton in Military Police green is charged with a gold fleur-de-lis, for Louisiana. Scarlet also denotes courage and sacrifice, gold signifies honor and excellence. Background: The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 4 March 2005.
