Description

Joint Task Force Guantanamo has operated at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay since 2002, managing one of the most complex and scrutinized detention operations in American military history—and this pentagon-shaped patch is what the servicemembers assigned there carried as proof of that assignment. The five-sided shape echoes the Pentagon itself, with a blue field centered by a gold pentagon and an eagle over radiating sun rays. Cuba's outline appears below the eagle. Service branch insignia mark all four corners. "JOINT TASK FORCE GUANTANAMO" runs around the border.

JTF-GTMO drew personnel from all branches to manage detention operations, intelligence collection, and base security at Gitmo. The mission was unlike anything else in the US military inventory—legal, logistical, and operational challenges in a location with significant geopolitical sensitivity. The men and women who served there operated under constant scrutiny and performed difficult work under difficult conditions.

If you served at Guantanamo Bay—whether in a guard role, intelligence function, legal capacity, or support position—this patch marks a posting that most of your peers never experienced and many have strong opinions about. Whatever the politics, the service was real, and this patch represents it. It's also a significant collector piece for anyone documenting the post-9/11 detention and intelligence apparatus.

The pentagon shape is unusual in patch design and makes this an immediate standout in any display. The eagle and Cuba map embroidery are clearly defined, and the service branch insignia at each corner are accurately rendered. Gray border framing with blue field creates a clean professional look.

Popular Patch carries patches from joint task forces, combatant commands, and specialized military operations across the full GWOT era. If you're building a collection that covers the range of post-9/11 operations, browse the full catalog.
