Description

USS Sandoval was a Haskell class auxiliary attack transport ship which served in operations during WWII including the battle for Iwo Jima and suffered direct hits by Kamikaze attacks. After recommissioning on 22 September 1951, she served as troop transport in Korean theater of operations during the Korean War. She was awarded two Battle Stars for WWII and two for the Korean War.
