Description
Established in 1917 by US Army for air battery practice and was used throughout WWI and renamed for Major William Roy Ream hence Ream Field. In early 1920s Ream Field was by the Navy for practice carrier landings and developed during WWII and commissioned as a NAAF Ream and active throughout. In 1951 the field was decommissioned and became home to the fight Naval Helo squadron HU-1. Today the base is used for excess salvageable materials.
