Description

United States Navy 2nd Amphibious Construction Battalion "Home Of The Gator Bees". ACB 2 started her career in World War II, as the 105th Naval Construction Battalion. At Camp Peary she was commissioned on July 12, 1943. After moving to Camp Parks in California, she was sent to Advance Base Depot Port Hueneme. During her stay, the battalion became part of history for building some of the staging for the filming of "The Fighting Seabees". At Milne Bay, she joined the 7th fleet and and her sister battalion the 104th. They were tasked with building an amphibious training center, the battalion's camp, a liberty ship pier, and a tank farm. William Huie, a Seabee's historian believed that if all the warehouses built by the 105th at Milne were combined it would be 15 miles long. Her motto's are "Can Do" - "We Build – We Fight". Since World War II, ACB 2 has participated in multiple engagements and operations and the 105th is currently based in Little Creek, Virginia.
