What are Ordnance Battalions?

Ordnance Battalions are an integral part of the logistics system of the United States military. In order for military units to stay combat effective, they require large amounts of ammunition. The ammunition and weapon systems also have to be tested and maintained.

During peace or war, the Ordnance Corps is responsible for developing and acquiring new weapon systems, electronics, ground vehicles, ammunition, and missiles. When stateside, the Ordnance Corps is responsible for the safe storage of weapons and ammunition. These are the men and women that keep the army stocked with ammo and provide them with the technology and fire superiority that makes the United States Military the finest fighting force on the globe.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal is one of the most dangerous and important jobs in the U.S. military. These units are trained to dismantle and disarm everything from nuclear weapons to improvised explosive devices (IEDs). They are specialized at operating in difficult environments, both underwater and on land, and have some of the most sophisticated equipment for removing explosives available today.
