Description
The 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery was born on 5 July 1918 when the 37th Field Artillery Regiment was organized at Camp Lewis, Washington. The Regiment was demobilized in 1919 and remained inactive until 1940. It was then reactivated and organized as a truck-drawn 105mm Howitzer Battalion at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The battalion was assigned to the 2d Infantry Division and participated in campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Alsace, and Central Europe. World War II ended for the 37th Field Artillery near Pilsen, Czechoslovakia.
